The Arabic script: before or aft er Islam?

Abstract

The article considers the possibility of the existence of written tradition in the pre-Islamic Arabia, as well as the possible extent of its distribution, socio-economic and linguistic context before the formation of the Arabic tradition of writing. The article also deals with the types of materials used for writing.
