The history of Bangladeshi immigration in Great Britain
Abstract
The history of Bengali migration in Great Britain, according to numerous scientific researches, count at least two centuries, while immigration from Bangladesh is lengthening only about 50 years. ‘British Bangladeshis’ is a common name for those people who originated from East Bengal (subsequently known as Bangladesh — since 1971) and their descendants. Bangladeshi immigration in England can be divided into several periods, each of them with its own peculiarities. At present time, British Bangladeshis can be considered as one of the largest ethnic group in the British society.
