Works of Iraqi poetess Lamī‘a ‘Abbās ‘Imāra as an example of modern women’s literature in the Arab countries
Abstract
Poetry always played a very important role for the Arabs, however there was not a lot of poetesses in the history of Arabic literature. The article analyzes poetry of modern Iraqi woman poet Lamī‘a ‘Abbās ‘Imāra, whose works reflect a variety of different aspects of the life. The author examines biography of the famous poetess, as well as the main themes and techniques which Lamī‘a ‘Abbās ‘Imāra has used in her poem works. The article contains first published literary translations of her poems, which were prepared by the author. Poem works of Lamī‘a ‘Abbās ‘Imāra are interesting not only as an example of woman poetry, but first of all because of their perfect form and content.
