Abstract

This article is devoted to the research of two manuscripts entitled as “Maqāmāt al-‘Abbās” written by an unknown author al-‘Abbās in the 16th century (B 66 at Saint-Petersburg Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of The Russian Academy of Sciences and N. F. 66 at Austrian National Library). For a long time manuscript B 66 was considered a unique. Recent research showed that G. Flugel wrongly attributes N. F. 66 at his catalogue to Ibn Mārī (12th century). The text of N. F. 66 as well as B 66 includes a reference of Muḥammad al-Qawwās, who lived in the 16th century. The text of both manuscripts B 66 and N. F. 66 is identical with the exception of occasional synonymous variant readings, which does not affect the meaning. The article lists several fundamental works, which attribute N. F. 66 to Ibn Mārī as well, and possible reasons for this attribution.
