Russia — Sudan: from the history of relationships (baseв on the book by Ye.P. Kovalevsky “Travel to Inner Africa”)
Abstract
The article presents the ideas of the Russian traveler Ye.P. Kovalevsky on social evolution of Sudan. He visited this country in the 1840-es and published his diary which contains interesting facts on the history of Russian-African relations, as well as ethnography and geography of that Arab-African country. Special attention is paid to the humanistic attitude of Ye.P. Kovalevsky to the Sudanese society.
