Abstract

The article is devoted to the modern system of value orientations and identity among Rwandans. These studies are mainly based on the results of the questioning lead among students of Rwanda in 2015: ‘Ethnic affiliation’ and ‘cultural-value differential’. We interviewed 100 students of Byumba Polytechnic Institute. Based on the results of the interviews it has been revealed that ethnic affiliation exerts a strong pull on Rwandans, and they also exhibit a high level of tolerance. A young Rwandan seems to be an exemplary citizen who is easy enough to correct. Solidarity and mutual aid are very important for the Rwandans. The priority of the group dominates. They are disciplined, kind, careful, faithful to traditions and conservative; they respect the authorities, are law-abiding and very compliant.
These studies indicate the current psychological state of society, the low level of social activity, as well as public support of the authorities.
