Conversion of the traditional character image in Indonesian literature
Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to make a comparative analysis between a well-known Indonesian novel of the XX-th century “Sitti Nurbaya” with a character of old Malay literature Hikayat Andaken Penurat in order to reveal the portraying specifics of the ideal hero that have remained in the writers’ demand at the beginning of the XX-th century.
