Lalon Fokir and his poetic heritage
Abstract
This article is dedicated to Lalon Fokir, an outstanding bearer of Bengali folk tradition. His songs are a vivid example of poetic works of the bauls, a group of Bengali folk singers. Lalon’s songs were a source of inspiration for eminent litterateurs of Bengal. Some biographical information is given; poetics and contents of one of his songs are analyzed.
