Bhagavan Singh’s “Apne-Apne Ram” as an example of the Hindi novel of the end of XX century: tradition and innovations

Abstract

The article gives the detail analysis of one of the most polemical Hindi novels written during the last decade of the XX century. By studying of the character system, narrative method and other important aspects the author shows how this novel combines epic elements with characteristics of post modern prose, eastern literary tradition with the western one, modernity with traditional Indian roots.
