Narrative sources for the study of the Mamluk Phenomenon in Egypt during the Ottoman period (XVI–XVIII centuries)
Abstract
The article contains a review documentary and narrative sources for the study of the Mamluk Phenomenon in Egypt in the XVI–XVIII centuries. This article deals with the following groups of sources: documents, including waqf documents (materials in the Egyptian and Russian archives); historical chronicles and other works of Arabic authors of ottoman period; European travel writing about Egypt in the XVI–XVIII centuries.
