Marriage of the epic heroine: comparison of the ancient Indian and other world eposes
Abstract
The article investigates one of the most important epic motives — heroine’s marriage — by analyzing ancient Indian epics of “Mahabharata” and “Ramayana” and other world eposes. Due to the cultural, historical and mental features of peoples of the world, this motif takes its specifi c and unique form in epics. Th e objective of a comparative-typological analysis is to identify the peculiarities of the motif in relation to the “female” epic character.
