Oneiromancy and physiognomy in Chinese traditions
Abstract
The two types of fortune telling popular in Chinese culture are discussed, i.e. oneiromancy, or dream interpretation, and physiognomy. The article also touches upon their relations with literary and historiographic traditions and their impact on the northern subculture characterized by an ability to rationalize the irrational.
