Poets read poets: The autograph of Samuel Archivolti, “The sonnet master” in the maqama volume by Immanuel of Rome from the collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract
The article contains an analysis of a copy of Immanuel of Roma’s maqama edition (Constantinople, 1535) from Samuel Archivolti’s library in the collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts. This article reconstructs the history of the copy, analyses and unravels the mystery behind the ownership note on the title page, and answers the question which source found the basis for Archivolti’s study of his renowned predecessor.
