Chinese tradition of good wishes: animal and botanical symbolism
Abstract
The article deals with classification and examples of Chinese good wishes and auspice patterns based on homophonic characters and symbolic features of certain animals or plants. The basic principles and moduses of such patterns are analyzed and some of them are illustrated.
